About Amy

An Experienced Businesswoman...

Amy and her husband have built a business from the ground up, right here in the Second District. She is proud of their role in restoring our area's historic structures. Amy believes in hard work and in giving back to the community.

A Neighborhood Advocate...

Amy lives in an old house in an old neighborhood, and she is committed to the revitalization of our urban areas. She lives and works in the Empowerment Zone, and her children attend our public schools. Amy believes we must pay special attention to the needs of our children and our seniors.

She also believes "it is imperative that we achieve balanced, quality growth in our county, with planning that works for everyone. We need to be proactive in protecting our air and water, as well as our established neighborhoods."

A Community Leader...

As a Board Member of Historic Old North Knoxville, Amy has worked on issues from Crime Prevention to Zoning. Amy is Co-Chair of a committee that is overseeing the design and construction of a new park in our community. She serves on Old North's Welcoming, Membership, and Beautification Committees. Amy also represents Old North Knoxville on the Council of Involved Neighborhoods.

Amy is an active volunteer in our public libraries and our local schools. She has also volunteered in our senior centers and health care facilities. She is a Girl Scout Troop Leader and takes an active role in her church. She is invested in our community!

A Solid Democrat...

As a long-time member of the Democratic Party, Amy has worked on candidate and issue campaigns at the local, state and national levels, and has devoted countless hours to promoting the Party ideals of responsive, responsible government. She has also worked towards increasing voter registration and participation in east Tennessee, and expanding the role of women in government.

Amy has a wide base of support across the county, and in March of 2007 the Democrats of the Second District elected her for a second time to represent them on the Knox County Democratic Party's Board of Governors.

A Native Tennessean...

Amy was born and raised in Chattanooga, where her parents taught her about community service and the importance of being a good neighbor. She came to Knoxville over 20 years ago to attend the University of Tennessee, and eventually decided to make Knoxville her home.
