Community Involvement
As a Board Member of Historic Old North Knoxville, Amy has worked on Neighborhood Watch and Traffic Calming Initiatives. She volunteers with the Membership, Welcoming, and Beautification Committees. She participates regularly in neighborhood cleanups, and in cleanups of First Creek and the First Creek Greenway.
Amy is Co-Chair of the ONK Park Committee, which is designing and building a new neighborhood park on East Oklahoma Avenue. She has received praise from neighbors, community leaders, and government officials for her leadership on this long-term, high-budget project.
Amy also represents Old North Knoxville on the Council of Involved Neighborhoods (COIN). She was a facilitator at the Quality Growth Conference held in Knoxville earlier this year.
Over the past several years Amy has volunteered her time and energy in local schools, healthcare facilities, and senior programs. She has organized a children's book drive for the Women's Pavilion at St. Mary's Hospital, where her last daughter was born. She is a "Branch Buddy" for the Knox County Public Library, and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She participates in Knox County's "Read With Me" program, volunteering each week at Inskip Elementary. She also delivers meals with Mobile Meals, and has organized an on-going Teen Night program at the Time Warp Tea Room.
Amy is a member of Westside Unitarian Universalist Church, where she has served on the Board of Trustees and as Finance Chair. She has also volunteered on the Religious Education, Social Justice, and Nominating Committees, and is currently serving on the Worship Committee.
